Woolworths Cross Triathlon Delivers Thrilling Racing Despite Muddy Conditions

The Woolworths Cross Triathlon (WW X TRI) once again brought an incredible day of outdoor adventure and camaraderie. Despite a rainy start, participants embraced the challenge, making the most of the beautiful Karkloof, Midlands. The muddy trails only added to the fun, with laughter and encouragement shared along the way. As the skies cleared, the energy and excitement grew, creating a truly memorable experience for all.

In the WW X TRI Lite, Jason Reineke defended his title in spectacular fashion, securing back-to-back wins. Scott Fisher also proved unstoppable, claiming victory once again in the WW X TRI Full. In the women’s field, Mikaela Jonsson crossed the finish line first in the WW X TRI Lite, continuing her strong presence at this event. Competitors pushed their limits, navigating challenging terrain with determination and grit. 

Sphesihle ZIMU won the 15km X Trail in a speedy time of 1:05:38! An incredible performance, considering the tough racing conditions.

“I absolutely loved being back out there yesterday, soaking up the race atmosphere and embracing the muddy, gritty conditions on those stunning Karkloof trails! The energy was nothing but positive, and it felt like everyone leaned into the adventure. This race meant a lot to me, just toeing the start line was already a win. Proudly supported by Momentum ZA, DP World, Squirt Cycling Products, and Sailfish, the event was a celebration of fitness, fun, and community. From first-timers to seasoned triathletes, everyone embraced the challenge and the camaraderie, making for an unforgettable day outdoors. Despite the muddy trails, there were plenty of smiles, high-fives, and moments of pure joy as friends, families, and competitors cheered each other on.
